I decided to give this place another try and i'm not regretting it.
I still think the athmosphere has been deadly wounded by all those
fake things... But this is still an amazing place where is a pleasure
to get lost.
Walking around the old bazaar, heart of this covered and misterious
town, is a wonderful experience. All those textiles, carpets, shiny
jewels are really something i have never seen before.
And chilling in this hidden davidoff café, with a turkish tea and wifi
- and a guy who went just crazy thinking this was an iphone...- is
really something which is worth to be done.
But, today, i also tried to work!
After the library i tried to get into the university campus... Pity i
could not get in!
Right yesterday the government decided no longer to forbid the voile
inside higher education buildings... Something that could be
seen, somehow, as the interruption of the secularization of this
country, and that's why i thought would have been interesting to talk
to some students and get their opinion.
How naive!
First of all, i have been stopped by a guard who did not want me to go
in and who did not speak any english.
Then, after few tries in the streets, i met a professor whom, after
some calls, told me i might have passed through the door... But just
for talking to someone from the public relations dept. , not to
students.
And no chance to fool them... Cause a guard was ready to guide me
through the courtyard straight to the office.
No, thanks.
Then, as i have seen some other journalists from tv standing outside,
i wanted to try with them. Sometimes solidarity works.
And this would have been one of those times...if they wouldn't have
been kicked out as me...
We also tried to get some students in the streets but...damn!no one
wanted to answer!
The combo camera-english speaking reporter was apparently too scary
for them!
Now it's time for my second tea...right after having convinced the guy
of the davidoff cafè to buy an itouch himself!
